Pokémon Emerald Version

This all started as a small challenge I posed to Kitty: can she beat the first Gym in Pokémon Emerald? She has never played a single Pokémon before, she has no idea how it works. I didn't think much about it. It was meant to be a small evening plan, something new to entertain ourselves. But I was curious to see what starter she would pick. She considered the three... but chose what, I imagine, was the cutest - Mudkip. She called her Olive. On her way to the first gym, she caught a Wurmple in the hopes of evolving it into a Beautifly (unfortunately, it evolved into a Dustox). Wurmple was named Miffy. She caught a Shroomish in the forest. At last, she made it to the gym. She wins. And now she is hooked. This was just the beginning of a new evening tradition,where we'd get home after long days of work, plug in my laptop to the TV, and made our way to the next gym. We planned teams, considered choices, and, to my surprise, made it all the way to the Elite 4, before defeating the champion.
